Their are many different types of phobias. Claustraphobia, the fear of enclosed spaces. Hydrophobia, the fear of water. Arachnaphobia, the fear of spiders. And my personal favorite, anatidaephobia-the fear that somewhere, somehow, a duck is watching you. And a good majority of these fears are irrational (I know mine is).

My point being, I know my fear is irrational; So what if I fail a test, it's not the end of the world. But that's not how I feel at the time. I'm sure someday, I'll get over this fear (probably when I'm in college or something). But for now it sucks. If anybody can help me, it'd be greatly appreciated. But for now, I leave you with this question. What are some of your phobias?
Ahhhhhh, screw you duck!
ReplyDeleteDucks are creepy dude...
ReplyDelete"Phobia" is as much hate as fear.
ReplyDelete@Sanchez, yeah i get what your saying. I do hate failing as much as i fear it lol
ReplyDeletethat photo of the news article talking about anatidaephobia with an aflac ad right in the middle of it always gets me. i never think ducks are staring at me. horses are cool, too. they usually look sweet when starting at you.

ReplyDeleteYeah man, I used to have that fear really bad actually (the fear of failure); it haunted me like a bitch for just about all 9th grade, and still shows up from time to time. As far as getting over it, idk it's just gone away with time for me. fear never seems to be able to be gotten rid of through rational thought... v.v

@Aaron. Exactly! rational thought never helps it lol. And it's good to know that SOMEBODY knows how i feel
ReplyDeleteI recall in Old Yeller, rabies was called hydrophobia. I was going to buy a book on phobias, but I was afraid it wouldn't help me.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I'm really afraid of is heights, I think. I mean, I'm afraid of failure, but not to the point that it is a phobia.
Oh, and of course rational thought doesn't help much. It's probably for the same reason nightmares are scary no matter how silly they are.
